INTRODUCING BOUNDARIES WITH WINDOW PAINTING

Introducing boundaries has been hard. Nicky isn't quite at the level where she understands staying within the lines of a coloring book or staying within a play mat. I thought of this really fun and visual activity that helped me introduce this concept to her. Using painters tape, I made a square on a window and had her paint inside of it. I made puffy paint for her to use because it doesn't drip as much as regular paint so the mess was pretty contained.

MATERIALS:

  • Glue

  • Painters Tape

  • Shaving Cream

  • Food Coloring

  • Paint Brush

  • Small Bowls

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: Make puffy paint (watch video for instructions)

STEP 2: Using painters tape, make a square on a window low enough for the child to reach comfortably.

STEP 3: Have the child paint inside of the square using the puffy paint.

Nicky had trouble staying within the square. She insisted on many occasions to paint outside of the square but in the end she understood the concept.
