HOW TO MAKE YOUR SLIME MORE STRETCHY

How to Make Your Slime More Stretchy

The allure of slime has captured the interest of kids and parents alike! I love that it is all about encouraging and celebrating imaginative play. Yes, I know slime definitely comes with challenges (like getting stuck to fabric or wadded in your child’s hair), but the benefits of slime outweigh the drawbacks by far! It keeps kids entertained for hours in a way that fosters their developmental growth through sensory play. It’s pretty amazing!

What’s also great about slime is that it’s not a one-and-done activity. There are so many ways to create at home and tailor to your child’s preferences. You can change the color, add glitter, integrate toys, and make it glow in the dark and that’s not even mentioning all the opportunities for texture variety. Make your slime sticky, crunchy, and even stretchy!

That last one is what I want to talk about today! If your kids are anything like mine, they love when they can stretch, fold, and squeeze their slime to the max. So, often I like to make a special “stretchy-version” of our favorite slime recipes to switch things up

Here’s how you can make extra stretchy versions of your favorite slime recipes:

  5. Once the slime forms, add the Model Magic and knead it with your hands to combine the mixture. Keep going until you have a silky, smooth butter slime.

Materials:

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, pour in your warm water. Mix the baking soda into the water until it is fully dissolved. Set aside to cool.

  2. Once cool, add the glue into the mixture and stir slowly to avoid forming air bubbles.

  3. Add one tbsp of contact solution at a time. Mix in between each one.

  4. Once the slime pulls apart from the bowl, rub some contact lens solution onto your hands and knead the slime until it’s no longer super sticky. Remember, it’s slime, so it will be somewhat sticky.

  5. Put the slime in an airtight container and let it sit for 24-48 hours. The air bubbles will rise to the top and eventually disappear. That’s what will make the slime clear.

  6. To make it stretchier, you can add small amounts of glycerin or clear lotion. Just add 1 teaspoon at a time, mix thoroughly, and add more as needed.

  7. Once it’s crystal clear, add in some fun sequins. The slime will get air bubbles as you play with it, but store it in an airtight container and it will become clear again.

  4. Add the instant snow (make sure it’s already made) Mix until fully integrated with the slime.

  5. Work the slime with your hands until it is no longer sticky. It might take a few minutes, but it will be less sticky the more you play with it.
