HOW TO MAKE CLEAR SLIME

HOW TO MAKE CLEAR SLIME

Look at this slimy beauty! Do I need to say anything else? Ok, ok, maybe include the instructions on how to make this homemade DIY slime recipe for your little ones! Oh! and did you see the cool personalized decorations inside? I know, right? That’s my favorite part, it is see through and you can add all sorts of things inside it. For this one I added small flamingo confetti, but anything sort works too.

MATERIALS:

  1. 1 cup of clear glue

  2. 1/2 cup of warm water

  3. 1 tsp baking soda

  4. 4-5 tbsp of contact lens solution with boric acid (this is the slime activator)

  5. Air tight container

  6. Cute sequence (Optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mix the baking soda into the water until it is fully dissolved. Set aside to cool.

  2. Add the glue to a bowl. Once the water solution is cool, add it in as well. Mix slowly in order to avoid air bubbles.

  3. Add one tbsp of contact solution at a time. Mix in between each one.

  4. Once the slime pulls apart from the bowl, add some contact lens solution to your hands and mend the slime until it is not super sticky. Remember it’s slime, so it will be somewhat sticky.

  5. Put the slime in an air tight container and let it sit for 24-48 hours. The air bubbles will rise to the top and eventually disappear. Thats what will make the slime super clear.

  6. Once it’s crystal clear, add in some fun sequence. The slime will get air bubbles as you play with it but store it in an air tight container and it will become clear again.

Tip: There are different other activators you could use instead of the contact lens solution, however this is the only one I have found to be non-toxic. And we obviously want to avoid any toxic activators (like borax powder) with our little ones.

How To Clean Up Slime

Cleaning up slime can be a liiiittle tricky, but with the right approach, you’ll have no problem at all getting it off most surfaces. Here are some of my favourite tips:

Act Quickly.

The sooner you address the slime spill, the easier it’ll be to clean. Once slime dries, it becomes way harder to remove.

Use warm soapy water.

For most non-porous surfaces like counters, tables, or floors, you need to start applying warm, soapy water. Then, use a cloth to wipe away the slime. Repeat if necessary.

Scrape off excess slime.

Use a plastic spatula or spoon to gently scrape of excess before applying solutions. Be careful not to damage the surface. Then, just use some vinegar or rubbing alcohol to get rid of any sticky residue.

If these tips don’t work, check out my blog post about how to get slime out of a blanket or watch this video.
