SCISSOR CUTTING PRACTICE ACTIVITY

Any left over paper party plates? Here’s an idea to reuse those and put them to great use! Punch some holes, add some yarn and have your little ones practice cutting with scissors around their favorite themed characters. We had a rainbow party at home (I know pretty unexpected for me, right?) so I paired the plate with white yarn making it look like it was raining. Emma loved cutting the yarns, and it kept her busy for a few more minutes so that also made mom happy too.

MATERIALS:

  1. Paper plates

  2. Yarn

  3. Hole Puncher

  4. Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Punch some holes on the edge of the paper plate.

  2. Cut off a large piece of yarn and fold it in half. Repeat until you have one for each hole.

  3. Thread the yard loop through the hole and insert the tip of the yarn. Pull making a sort of knot securing the yarn to the plate.

  4. Offer your toddler some scissors to practice cutting the yarn.

Supervise as they cut away, practice their fine motor skills and play all at the same time!
