MAKE YOUR OWN PRACTICAL LIFE SKILLS EGG CARTON
MULTI PURPOSE PRACTICAL LIFE SKILLS EGG CARTON
True story: My daughter learned how to tie her shoes using this multipurpose recycled egg carton! And I say this very proud because I love watching play based learning turn into real life accomplishment and toddler development. Best part, this activity is made out of recycled items you can find at home! Just turn an egg carton into a multipurpose tool that entertains your little ones for days! I literally grabbed all the random things around my house and hot glued them onto the box. Just kidding, but not really, I did exactly that! This little box is amazing for practicing practical life skills: zipping, looping, twisting, sorting, color matching, tying, etc... It aids in developing fine motor skills and coordination.
You don’t really have to make the same, I suggest using whatever you have at home, but if you do want to replicate this exact same multi purpose egg carton here’s how!
MATERIALS:
Cardboard Egg Carton
2 Plastic bottles with cap
INSTRUCTIONS:
With the hot glue gun, glue zippers to the inside of the carton box.
With colored markers, color the both cotton ends of the Q-tips with different colors and cut them in half.
Punch holes on directly on the egg carton and label them with same colors as the Q tips for a color match activity.
Punch holes on every egg space and criss cross the laces to tie them at the bottom.
Cut bottle tops and glue them onto the carton and label them “big” and “small” for a pom pom sorting activity.
On the opening side of the carton, glue button to the top lid.
Open the carton. Punch two holes in line with the buttons. Use the Q tips to help you insert the rubber bands into the holes and loop to secure.
Have your kids practice their fine motor skills with one recycled multi purpose box!
