As you may have already noticed, I LOVE making things out of recycled items! Recycled household items are so underrated, but make for the most creative at home DIYs for kids! Not only are they easy to find and cheap, but reusing these items make for a greener alternative to just throwing them away. So versatile too, everything from a DIY wrapping paper to a full blown toy can be made reusing items found around the house. We don't have to go broke buying new toys for our kids’ entertainment, recycled toys make fun DIY activities and play time + it's good for the environment! Now thats what I call a win-win!
This interactive family flap book is the perfect toy for little ones to learn about their family tree! What’s better about lift the flap interactive games, is that toddlers can practice making predictions. So you can ask them to guess what is behind the flap before they open it to motivate some critical thinking skills. This makes for a fun guessing game, a tool to practice their family tree and also, an early exposure to developing prediction skills.
To make this at home recycled activity for your little ones, just follow the easy instructions below!
MATERIALS:
Recycled Cardboard
Recycled Baby Wipes' Resealable Lid
Pictures of Family Members
INSTRUCTIONS:
With stick glue, glue family pictures directly on cardboard.
Using glue gun, paste resealable lids on top of the pictures.
Put some masking tape on top of closed lid, and write the names of each family member with permanent marker.
Ask kids to identify names of family members to reveal their picture!
For older toddlers, you can modify the difficulty level by asking them to write the correct names after they discovered who it is!
Tip: You can also repurpose this fun interactive activity to make a memory game instead! Just add two pictures of the same thing and randomly paste them throughout. Ask your little ones to find the matching pairs!
