How to Get Slime Out of Hair With Coke
Because of its acidity, Coke is a great way to remove slime from hair. It breaks through that sticky adhesive barrier in no time. However, it can dry hair out and leave its own sticky residue, so just be mindful of this afterward!
Mix water and coke: Since kids’ hair is a little more delicate, you may want to mix some water into the coke so it isn’t as harsh.
Soak the hair: Put your mixture in a cup or spray bottle and apply it to the affected area.
Let it sit, then work it out: Leave the coke on the slimy hair for 5-10 minutes, and then gently use your fingers or a comb to remove the slime.
Shower as usual: Once you feel like you’ve gotten most of the slime from the hair, shampoo and condition as usual! If you still have a bit of slime stuck, try this method a couple more times until you notice it’s working.
How to Get Slime Out of Hair With Peanut Butter
Peanut butter isn’t just for mealtime; it’s a fantastic hack for removing slime from hair! The natural oils break up stickiness and soften the hair, making combing the slime out much easier.
Apply the peanut butter: Scoop out a generous amount and put it directly onto the slimy area.
Massage it in: Use your fingers to work the peanut butter into the hair to coat the slime thoroughly.
Let it sit: Once you feel like you’ve massaged it into the area well enough, leave it to sit for about 5 minutes.
Brush it out: Use a comb to gently brush out the slime and peanut butter, and then shower normally. You may have to spend a little extra time (and shampoo) washing the peanut butter out, but it’s well worth it for a tear-free slime removal method!
How to Get Slime Out of Hair with Vinegar
If you’ve seen my other slime removal methods, you know white vinegar is a superhero for breaking down slime no matter what it may be stuck to! The acidity effortlessly dissolves the slime, making it quick and easy to rinse.
Dilute the vinegar: To remove some of the acidity from the white vinegar, add an equal amount of warm water.
Apply to the affected area: Pour your mixture into a cup or spray bottle and apply it to the hair covered in slime.
Let it sit: Let the vinegar sit on the hair for 5-10 minutes, and then gently comb through to remove any excess slime.
Shower as usual: Once you’ve combed it all out, follow up with a good shampoo and conditioner, and you’re good to go!
How to Get Slime Out of Hair with Mayonnaise
Like peanut butter, mayonnaise has a lot of natural oils that can help loosen slime’s grip on hair. Plus, it’s a fabulous deep conditioner, so you won’t have to worry about it drying the hair out!
Apply the mayonnaise: Slather a generous amount of mayonnaise onto the slimy area of the hair.
Work it in, or let it sit: If you’re dealing with a trickier case, you can use your fingers to work the slime into the hair. If it’s a simpler situation, just apply it and let it sit.
Comb through the hair: After about 10 minutes, use a comb to gently remove the excess slime from the hair.
Shower as usual: After the slime and mayonnaise have been combed out, rinse it and apply shampoo to scrub out the extra oils!
How to Get Slime Out of Hair with Hair Conditioner
Hair conditioner is a great slime removal hack during bathtime its slippery texture makes it easy to work through tangles without tears or complaints! You could even do it during a color building bath so little ones are focused on a separate activity, preventing any fussiness.
Apply the conditioner: Apply a small amount of conditioner to damp hair. Since you’re already in the tub, you can reapply if necessary!
Massage it in: Work the conditioner into slimy hair, and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
Comb it out: Use a comb to gently work the conditioner further into the hair, removing any extra slime.
Rinse well: Rinse the conditioner out and shampoo if necessary! A hair conditioner is perfectly fine to leave on hair for the duration of bathtime. You won’t have to worry about it oversaturating or drying hair out!
