BANANA CHOCOLATE WRAP SUSHI SNACK RECIPE FOR KIDS (AND ADULTS!)
BANANA CHOCOLATE WRAP SUSHI SNACK RECIPE FOR KIDS (AND ADULTS!)
It’s me! Back again with another amazing recipe for you to feast your eyes upon! We all know by now that I absolutely love spending time in the kitchen making healthy snacks that little bellies absolutely love. It’s about so much more than being yummy, and more about being healthy, fuelling your little ones, and making them feel good. When I saw how much my kiddos liked this one, I knew I HAD to share it with you all!
So, I originally made this homemade sweet snack for the little ones, buuuut, it was so good I actually had it for myself! You’ll definitely understand after making it. It is like nothing you’ve EVER tasted before. I mean, realistically, it combines chocolate and sushi in one. So really, how can it go wrong?
I must admit though, it isn’t as quick and easy as I usually like my other recipes to be. It did take a little more work than I’d like for a snack but oh my gosh, they are so good! They serve as the perfect after-school snack, a playdate kiddie icebreaker, a post-lunch crunch, or just a yummy dessert for kids (and adults too!) I sometimes pop downstairs when I’m home alone and make it for myself when I need a delicious but healthy snack.
Just make sure that you keep in mind that this recipe does contain peanuts, gluten, and dairy. You will need to make sure you watch out for those food restrictions. If needed, an alternative would be to skip the peanut coating and chocolate, and you can also use a gluten-free tortilla instead of the regular whole wheat tortilla. But don’t worry about these changes doing a lot. This recipe tastes delicious either way!
Let’s dive into the recipe below so that you can enjoy it too!
INGREDIENTS
Whole wheat tortilla
2 spoons peanut butter
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 tsp of coconut oil
A handful of crushed peanuts
INSTRUCTIONS
Spread the peanut butter generously onto the whole wheat tortilla.
Place the banana on the outer edge and roll the tortilla and the banana together. You can also use banana slices.
Cut the roll into half an inch portions, just like you would with regular sushi.
Pour the chocolate chips and coconut oil into a microwave-safe bowl.
Melt in the microwave for 1 minute, mixing thoroughly when it comes out.
Dip the pieces of banana sushi into the melted chocolate.
Before the chocolate dries, roll it in the crushed peanuts.
Wait for the chocolate to harden, and add any extras you’d like.
Now, serve and enjoy!
Tip: If you don’t have coconut oil, you can definitely substitute it with a little bit of butter. It won’t change the taste or texture too much.
Try this snack next time you have hungry bellies in your house!
I definitely recommend making this yummy snack recipe! But beware, it can be pretty hard to stop yourself from eating it all before your little ones get to it! I’ll be the first to admit I ate some myself the first time, and now I regularly make it as a snack for just myself! I just LOVE that everyone in my family can enjoy this snack. So, it is worth the prep time.
If you’re feeling like a little something extra, I love to toy around with new additions to this recipe, including some other fresh fruit and garnishes! I’ve tried strawberries as well in this, and it was a hit! If you try this recipe out, let me know how it goes.
